The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) recently announced it has commenced assessment of the SA to NSW Interconnector option under the Regulatory Investment Test for Transmission (RIT-T).
A new paper from the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO, 2019a) has highlighted the importance of investing in state interconnectors –such as Project EnergyConnect - to unlock renewable energy sources and drive down power bills for customers.
Project EnergyConnect has been granted Major Development status in South Australia, with Premier Steven Marshall naming the interconnector as ‘nation-building infrastructure.’
EPS Energy is proposing to invest around $1.2 billion into a new solar farm near Robertstown after receiving development approval this week for its project – a decision it says was heavily influenced by plans to build Project EnergyConnect.
